Benchmark, positioning, workshop, economic modeling

Context and challenges:

The management of Lyon’s Maison de la Danse is considering repositioning its dance video distribution platform. The aim is to renew its offering and improve its governance, so as to increase its visibility and audience, while maintaining a high-quality offering. Ultimately, this platform should contribute to the development of the Maison de la Danse’s own resources.

Our role:

Beaux Arts Consulting was commissioned to carry out a strategic positioning study for the platform, using a participatory methodology that placed contributors at the heart of the process:

  • Diagnosis of the situation through a study of audiences, economic analysis and attendance,
  • Benchmarking of dance and video content distribution platforms,
  • Creation of a working group to understand the needs and expectations of the platform’s contributors,
  • Development of evolution scenarios for the platform, integrating the offer, the economic model and governance,
  • Proposal of new programming axes with a strong innovation dimension,
  • Economic modeling of the chosen scenario and development of an operational roadmap,
  • Development of an editorial line and language elements around the chosen scenario, -Identification and networking with producers of exhibitions and artistic experiences.

Impact and follow-up:

Beaux Arts Consulting’s support enabled the Maison de la Danse de Lyon and the Numéridanse teams to gain in-depth knowledge of the platform’s audiences and contributors, thanks to a study of audiences, an analysis of visitor numbers and a working group with the platform’s contributors.

The resulting diagnosis, combined with Beaux Arts Consulting’s targeted expertise in digital issues and trends, enabled Beaux Arts Consulting to federate multiple stakeholders around a scenario for repositioning the platform.
